Right of Abode
Many of our clients have successfully acquired the right of abode by working consistently with our highly-skilled immigration team.
The right of abode means you do not need permission to enter the UK, and you may live and work in the UK without immigration restrictions. There will not be a limit on how long you can stay in the UK, and you do not need a visa to enter the UK. Additionally, you may have the right to vote and be entitled to apply for social security and welfare benefits.
All British citizens automatically have the right of abode in the UK. Some Commonwealth citizens may also have the right of abode. The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel. For example, you can apply from 16 March if you plan to travel on 15 June. You should get a decision on your visa within 3 weeks when you apply from outside the UK.
ELIGIBILITY
You can prove you have the right of abode if you have a passport defining you as a British citizen or a British subject with the right of abode. Otherwise, you have to apply for a Certificate of Entitlement.
We can assist you in clarifying the necessary legal framework that governs your application for the right of abode or certificate of entitlement.
